...like a kid in a candy store!

So yesterday, despite my solemn efforts to get some work done, the heavy hand of fate deemed it fit to cause a power cut, thus effectively thwarting all those well-laid plans. So after a bunch of hours of lolling around the house waiting, I went off to the mall…(figured I’d catch a flick). Now the PVR at Forum boasts a total of 11 auditoriums, capacities ranging from 32 people in the smallest to about 150 in the largest. Being a Sunday evening however, there were absolutely no tickets available for any flick worth seeing (…there was a kanada movie which I was kinda leaning towards…but was vetoed by sane part of brain…thank gawd!) …none! Until of course we happened to chance upon the “Gold Class”…

So after managing to get our hands on tickets for “Ghost Rider” at 10..(..somehow I figured if you’re paying 600 bucks for a movie, it should damn well start when you want it to…but whatever!) we had to then figure out a way to kill the intervening couple of hours. And this is where I suspect the Karnataka Electricity Board authorities play a part in supporting the retail market! I went into Landmark (mega store extraordinaire!) and ended up going a little berserk..(despite my erstwhile anti-furious-spending-spree promise to self…:P). Bought me a whole bunch of music, movies and (…yup I know…am a slave to my guilty pleasures…give other women the shoes and the handbags…leave me my oddities!!!) two more books (A Confederacy of Dunces - John Kennedy Toole (..highly recommended and on reading of the first 83 pages am duly impressed!) & Above Average – Amitabha Bagchi (..my little endowment towards promoting Indian authors in the delusional hope that some poor sods might return the favour and buy copies of my book… if and when I see fit to publish!)). So after an other hour spent pouring over my new acquisitions at the food court we finally upped and went for the movie..

And boy was I pleasantly surprised! After a short pit-stop in the Gold Lounge..(..ahem!) we were then escorted to the plush 180 degree velvet haven of our individual recliners where uniformed ushers brought me my bucket of popcorn, cappuccino and ceasers salad. The only way to fly! Siiigh! The movie itself was fun..(…although I think I’d have thought the kanada movie well deserving as well from within the flounces of my regalia..)…no it really was! Apart from the fact that Nicholas Cage was looking a tad bit run down and I’m not that crazy about Eva Mendes, I thought the movie was right up there with Van Helsing and Pirates…(ok…not exactly there maybe a notch or two below…but still good wholesome lets-get-on-our-tightest-leather-pants-and-kick-some-zombie-butt type of fare). Extremely fitting for a Sunday evening…

More when it happens!

Thanks for buying my book, I'll definitely buy your's when it comes out.

Do let me know what you thought of it when you're done and how it compares to A Confederacy of Dunces.
